What is Aromatherapy?
Simply put, Aromatherapy is the deliberate accessing of wonderful aromas that make us feel good. We
have been enjoying Aromatherapy since our days in the Garden of Eden.
Do you recall a time when you came into the kitchen as a hot apple pie was being removed
from the oven? Think of the smell of a fresh-cut Christmas tree just put into the stand. I
remember coming home from school to the welcoming smell of fresh-baked bread! What is the first
thing you do when someone gives you flowers? Right - you plunge your nose deep into the blossoms
to enjoy the aroma! Think of bakeries, the smell of a newborn baby, and the freshness of an
autumn walk in the woods. Enjoying Aromatherapy is as natural to us as breathing!
Aromatherapy, a Natural Healing Science
Today, Aromatherapy is enjoying a resurgence in popularity and clinical studies are proving it is much more
than we thought it was! Essential oils, the aromatic substance used in Aromatherapy,
are a natural extract from plants removed in such a way that the
life force of the plant remains intact! These essential oils contain the properties which protected the life of the
plant: hundreds of unique chemical compounds in very highly concentrated, balanced state!
Aromatherapy is a Science of bringing balance to mind, body, spirit and
emotions in a most natural way!
Essential Oils:
Nature's Healing Gift
Essential oils that have been distilled
from organically grown plants and have no chemicals added to them during or after the distillation process,
offer the closest thing to nature that is available, next to the plant itself. True essential oils,
are a precious, powerful healing gift from nature!
When we inhale an essential oil,
we effect the Limbic system of the brain (the seat of emotions, memory, aroma) and the hypothalamus (hormone centre).
Essential oils, because of their ability to affect these systems of the brain, can have a powerful impact on the body
causing relaxation, or stimulation, hormone secretion or appetite suppression and much more!
Natural Diffusing Agents
Essential oils diffuse into the air naturally, without any fan or heat for assistance.
Essential Oils are volatile, which means they evaporate, naturally, at ordinary temperatures!
All you need to do to begin the diffusing process is release them into the air! This is why a Terra Cotta
Pendant is a perfect diffuser for essential oils. The clay holds and then gently releases the oils slowly over time.
Putting a drop of pure essential oils on a Terra Cotta
Pendant is like placing it onto a little piece of Earth [terra] worn around your neck!
